Well I had just a stellar day - today - in fact it was so bright, people around me had to pull out their sunglasses, less they be blinded. Smile. But enough about me wink, wink...let’s talk about what Epiphany is really about and what the rest of the world might have been doing. I believe because one of the main definitions of Epiphany is that of a religious holiday where Christians celebrate the visit of the Magi to the infant Jesus, many people were doing just that today...celebrating. (See the Minneapolis-St. Paul’s Star Tribune’s piece by Rev. Peg Chemberlin below, a very nice article that explains a lot.)
But, what about me...wink wink. I want to discuss the other meaning - the feeling or a sudden realization or comprehension of the (larger) essence or meaning of something. I love “Aha” moments and I had many Epiphanies reading about Epiphany. Is anyone confused yet. Smile. I circled my calendar to remind myself that today was a special day. Aber, in my quest for a cure for my sinus cold, I forgot that today was 01/06/09. There I stood doing some mundane chore this evening when it hit me or I, the Muse hit myself...it was today...my special day...unbelievable; I had a great day and didn’t even know why. Smile and wink!
Well in reading more about Epiphany I noted that the word "zen" is sometimes used as a verb in the same sense as Epiphany, to mean acquiring a sudden comprehension. I love zen moments. The Japanese symbol for zen reminded me of the Ouroboros which took me to another level of thinking...let’s just say I had many Eureka moments tonight. (Thank you Wiki.)
Enjoy...More in depth reading:
